Dell XPS part Two

This isn’t a powerhouse, but it’s perfectly capable of a little gaming: the XPS 15z managed a respectable 45fps in our Low quality Crysis test and 23fps at Medium. Lower a few settings and you might just about squeeze a playable frame rate at the screen’s native Full HD resolution.

Pearson review: Dell Xps

The 15z isn’t only about design: it also offers a great deal of computing power. It comes with a dual-core 2.7GHz Core i7-2620M and 8GB of DDR3 RAM, which pushed it to an overall score of 0.73 in our application benchmarks – not far off the sort of score you’d expect from a top-end quad-core laptop. Graphics are handled by a switchable Nvidia GeForce GT 525M GPU

Packard Bell iXtreme I6525UK

Packard Bell iXtreme I6525UK

The computer is very fast and powerful.

1 terabyte hard drive and 6GB of memory.
It was fairly easy to set up.
Pre-installed anti-virus and firewall. (Norton).
Windows 7 itself is very good. I'd always been used to using Windows XP, but Windows 7 is much easier and the interface looks better.
Hardware drivers are downloaded and installed automatically as soon as you connect them to the PC.
The DVD drive works with either +RW or -RW disks.
There are several USB ports near the front of the PC.
Bad points:
I couldn't get the wireless keyboard (included in the package) to work, so I'm using a USB keyboard for the time being, which is what I'm used to. I have to say, I've never been overly keen on the idea of wireless keyboards/mice, as I'm afraid the batteries might run out while I'm in the middle of an important task! The wireless mouse is working OK though.
My old scanner isn't compatible, but this is to do with Windows 7 rather than the computer itself
